Spring is here, and the yabbies are starting to wake up! One of our BCK Outdoors customers, Matthew, recently took his Compact Yabby Net out for a spin at a quiet dam deep in Belanglo State Forest.

Yabbies are waking up Mid Spring

Armed with his BCK Compact Yabby Net and a Bait Bomb, Matthew set up for a quick session using nothing more than some leftover meat for bait. The weather was warm, the water was calm, and within no time he was hauling in a nice little bucket of yabbies.

While the yabbies were still a bit on the smaller side – typical for mid-spring – it’s a great sign that bigger hauls are just around the corner as the water continues to heat up heading into summer.

What Matthew loves most about his BCK Compact Yabby Net is how easy it is to take anywhere. He keeps one in his car at all times — because you never know when you’ll pass a creek, dam, or waterhole worth a quick throw-in. The compact size makes it effortless to carry, yet it’s tough enough to handle hours in the water.

He also swears by the Bait Bomb — it makes baiting simple, keeps everything tidy, and makes cleanup a breeze afterward.

“I love how portable this net is. It’s always with me — ready to go wherever I find water,” Matthew says.

From quick roadside stops to full-day fishing trips, Matthew’s story is a perfect example of what BCK Outdoors is all about — getting out there, exploring, and making the most of every opportunity.
