There’s nothing quite like summertime yabbying with mates, and Lake Lyell near Lithgow, NSW delivered the goods on our recent camping trip.
We set up camp right on the edge of the lake, with shady trees, fresh air, and plenty of space for the kids and kayaks. Doug the Yabby Net came out as soon as the sun dipped—nets were thrown from the water’s edge and dropped deeper from the kayak. The result? A bucket load of yabbies in just a couple of hours!
Nights were spent around the fire, cooking fresh yabbies and swapping stories. The nets packed away flat and tidy, taking up no room in the kayak or 4WD. With minimal effort and maximum reward, Lake Lyell turned into the ultimate yabbying getaway.
If you’re looking for a scenic, fun-filled camping spot that’s yabby and fishing friendly, put Lake Lyell on your summer list. And don’t forget to pack Doug.
